Here’s Your 2026 Resolution: Preserve More Family Stories and Histories

As I step into a new year, I’m reminding myself that what we choose to preserve shapes what we remember. The moments that matter most are often the ones we don’t plan for — the stories, keepsakes, and memories that quietly become part of our lives.

But being mindful of the memories and mementos we want to preserve will let us enjoy them for years to come. There doesn’t have to be a complicated system.

You can set up a monthly calendar reminder to print photos from your phone taken that month. Or you can create a scrapbook or notebook where you stick cards, notes, postcards, anything valuable instead of relegating them to a shoebox in your closet. Or it could be working with a personal biographer (like me) to preserve stories that matter to you and your loved ones.

When we take the time to preserve our stories thoughtfully and intentionally, they turn into something we can return to, share, and pass on.

If preserving what truly matters is part of your intention for 2026, connect with me, and let’s save these memories together.
