Why You Should Preserve Your Birth Story

Whether you’re the parent that gave birth or the partner, your life changed immeasurably the day your child was born. It’s a red-letter day in your life and deserves to be remembered as such. Enter the birth story.

When I became a mother, I realized how quickly those first moments slip away. Giving birth was such a powerful and surreal experience that words can barely contain it, but I wanted to do my best to preserve the memories of that day.

My mother didn’t remember much about the day I was born, so I made it a point to write down ever single thing I could remember about the day my son was born. I interviewed my husband to get his perspective of that day, too. You can read my birth story recollections here. The hope is that one day my son will be curious about what was happening in our lives before he entered it and he’ll have the story ready for him.

Some people have less challenging births, some people have more traumatic experiences, but at the end of the day it’s a monumental, life-altering thing that you went through and it should be remembered. There’s just as much value in doing this for yourself as it is for your child.

Every birth story is sacred and every parent carries a journey worth telling. I help parents preserve these once-in-a-lifetime moments so their children can one day know how their life began.

Let’s capture your story beautifully, truthfully, and forever.
